Venue at a Glance
Pier Nine is on the Brighton seafront at 9 Grand Junction Road, Brighton BN1 1PP, directly across from Brighton Palace Pier. It sits on the main strip, so you really do walk straight past it if you are on the front. The property is part of the Grosvenor Casinos network, owned by The Rank Group Plc, one of the larger UK-listed leisure operators.
On the UK Gambling Commission public register, the same street address appears under two separate premises names: “Grosvenor Casino Seafront” and “Brighton Electric Casino”. Both are licensed to Grosvenor Casinos Limited, account number 614. Locally, the premises licence is handled by Brighton and Hove City Council.
The gaming and leisure space covers roughly 9,300 square feet. That puts it in the mid-size city casino bracket: big enough for a complete mix of tables, slots, bar, restaurant, sports lounge and event area, but not so huge that it feels empty. Main contact number is +44 1273 326514.

Opening Hours
Pier Nine keeps late hours but it is not a strict 24/7 casino floor, despite what some promos suggest. That language mainly reflects the “always-on” leisure and food positioning, not guaranteed 24-hour live gaming.
| Day | Opening | Closing |
|---|---|---|
| Monday - Thursday | 12:00 | 04:00 |
| Friday | 12:00 | 05:00 |
| Saturday | 11:00 | 05:00 |

Electronic gaming can run a bit longer than live tables. Usual pattern for live table play is late morning through to early morning, somewhere around 11:00 to 06:00 depending on the night. Times do shift with demand and policy, so it is worth a quick call before a long trip, especially if you rely on third-party listings.
Nearby parking is free, which is unusual for a central seafront spot. Because it sits on the main road opposite the pier, it functions more like a landmark building than a tucked-away casino in a side street.
Gaming Floor
The main floor carries the familiar Grosvenor table mix. Confirmed live games are roulette, blackjack and poker, with banks of electronic machines and slots along the sides of the floor. The venue had a refurbishment of about £2.7 million, which modernised both the gaming area and the general interiors.
The poker room is active again. It re-opened on 17 May 2021 after pandemic closures and has been running since. Cash games and tournaments do not have fixed, always-accurate schedules published in static form; the line-up changes and is usually confirmed closer to the date. The only reliable way to know the current poker timetable is to contact the casino team.
Entry to the gaming floor is simple once you know the basics:
- Bring valid photo ID and show it at the door - the 18+ rule is enforced without exceptions.
- If current policy requires it, complete membership or registration at reception, which only takes a few minutes.
- Buy chips from the cashier; every table has its own minimum and maximum buy-in levels.
- Roulette and blackjack tables tend to sit on the main floor, and the layout is easy enough to follow once you step inside.
- For electronic slots and terminals, there is no need to change cash into chips; machines work with cash or ticket-in/ticket-out, depending on the setup.
- For poker, head to the poker desk or check the display board for active tables, waiting lists and blinds so you know what is running.
- Before leaving, cash any remaining chips back at the cashier desk.
As a general casino tip: for a first visit anywhere, it is safer to carry two separate forms of ID. Some venues will ask for a second document during registration, particularly if you are opening a new account on the day.
Dining, Bar and Sports Lounge
Pier Nine is pitched as more than only a casino. Inside there is a restaurant with table reservations managed via OpenTable, a full bar, and a sports and entertainment lounge set up for live sport on screens. Fish and chips features clearly on the menu, which matches the seaside setting quite well.
The sports lounge operates like a separate social area within the same building. Guests can come in for drinks and televised sport without stepping onto the live gaming floor. It works for groups who simply want to watch a match together. In addition, there is space that can be hired for events and meetings, both corporate and private.
Basic flow for booking a table or event:
- Go to the OpenTable entry for Grosvenor Casinos Pier Nine Brighton and check what times are open.
- Choose date, time and group size, then confirm the reservation with your contact details.
- For private hire, meetings or larger events, call the venue on +44 1273 326514 rather than going through OpenTable.
- Explain what you are planning - for example a business meeting, birthday party, or a group watching a specific sports event - so the team can suggest the right space.
- Confirm food, drink and any AV or room layout needs while you are booking to save time later.
- On the day, arrive at Grand Junction Road and the events or reception staff will point you towards the correct room or lounge.
